Border infiltrations by militants in Kashmir likely to slow peace talks between India and Pakistan

Indian security forces have reported an increase in the number of cross-border incidents along the Line of Control (LoC) separating India and Pakistan in October. The security forces claimed they had stopped several attempts by Pakistan-based militants to cross into Indian Kashmir. Indian officials claimed that the increase in the number of infiltration attempts indicated an increased risk of terrorist attacks in Kashmir over the next year, with Pakistan based jihadist groups such as Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT) potentially planning major attacks in the state before general elections in April-May 2014, or disrupting state elections later in the year.
